A Good Death: Rites of Death and Dying, 27-29 August 2024

Later on in the year, between 27 and 29 August, the Society for Liturgical study will be returning to Mirfield for their first in-person SLS Conference since 2019. The conference theme is “A Good Death: Rites of Death and Dying”. The biennial general meeting (BGM) will be held during the coference at which there will be an opportunity to discuss an updated version of the Society’s constitution. We will also be looking for several new members for the committee, so please do get in touch with the secretary if you might be interested and would like to find out more.

Abstracts of approximately 250 words should be submitted to [email protected] no later than 31 May 2024; submissions should include a title and a brief outline of the proposed line of enquiry, as well as an indication of the length of the contribution (papers may be 30 minutes or 15 minutes). Successful applicants will be notified by 7 June 2024.

We actively encourage contributions from early career researchers and those engaged in ordained ministry, and we hope to facilitate contributions from oversees speakers by including a panel of papers delivered via Zoom.

Registration details for the conference will be available on the SLS website (https://www.studyliturgy.org.uk/) from early June. It is expected that fees (including meals and accommodation) will be in the region of £185. A limited number of bursaries for unsalaried participants and early career researchers will be available.

For further information, please see the call for papers.
