Promoting the Study of Liturgy

Save the date: Liturgy special interest group online study day, Thursday 11 March 2027 10.30 am–1.00 pm (UK and Ireland time)

How does liturgy shape lived experience, and how is it shaped by the social, cultural, and material worlds around it? Please save the date for the first gathering of The British and Irish Association for Practical Theology’s (BIAPT) Liturgy Special Interest Group. The group will bring practical theology into conversation with the study of worship, exploring lived experience, practice, context, and transformation through interdisciplinary, critically reflective engagement with liturgy in its many forms. The programme will be announced in due course and will include a short research roundup, with time to discuss what the group might explore next.

Expressions of Interest: Research Roundup

We invite researchers and practitioners at any stage working on liturgy or worship to propose a five-minute e-poster presentation. Work in progress and recently published work are both welcome. Each presenter will have five minutes to introduce their research using a single-screen poster or slide, followed by five minutes of questions. A limited number of e-poster places will be available. Submissions that fall within the broad scope of the group will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the available places are filled. Early expressions of interest are encouraged.
If you would like to contribute, please send a description of your proposed presentation in up to 100 words, including the question you would most like to discuss, to Chris West at [email protected] by Friday 15 January 2027.
