For their annual Collection in 2009, the Alcuin Club asked Colin Buchanan, to put together a representative cross-section of his writings on liturgy over the last forty years – the very years which have been formative for modern Anglican liturgy, providing a glimpse of both his scholarship and his readiness to engage with the presenting issues of the day.

Students of recent developments in liturgy and of recent church history will find this book an essential revelation of the process of liturgical revision.

Bishop Colin Buchanan is an author, editor, journalist, practitioner and salesman in the liturgical field. Until his retirement he was Area Bishop of Woolwich; he was formerly Principal of St John’s Nottingham and founder of the very successful publishing venture, Grove Books. He has made a vast contribution to the liturgy and worship of the Church of England.
